Yes on H / No on 8 Rally
“So what these two measures have in common is that our adversaries can’t sell their message honestly because it’s not a message that voters like.” “They have to reinvent it and, in fact, try to sell the voters a less than truthful message, some might even call them lies.” –Mark Leno
Here is a great piece from Sunday’s “No on 8″ / “Yes on H” rally!
Folks from San Francisco’s LGBTQ community, clean energy advocates, and students, all opponents of Prop 8, and supporters of Prop H held a Yes on H / No on 8 rally at 11am Sunday morning. The San Francisco community came out in force in the Castro district of San Francisco. They were joined by Assemblyman Mark Leno, Supervisors Tom Ammiano, Aaron Peskin and Ross Mirkarimi, Robert Haaland from Pride at Work, Rafael Mandelman of the Harvey Milk LGBT Democratic Club and former PUC General Manager Susan Leal.
PG&E has spent over $9 million against Prop H (the Clean Energy Act) and has given a few hundred thousand dollars to the No on 8 campaign (to preserve marriage equality). PG&E’s cynical attempt to curry favor in the LGBTQ community has been overshadowed by the overwhelming support Prop H has received from LGBTQ leaders and community members. The Harvey Milk LGBT Democratic Club, the Alice B. Toklas LGBT Democratic Club, and Pride at Work have all endorsed proposition H.< /p>
